Unlike the recorded music industry, mobile and internet technologies are proving beneficial to the live events industry, enabling the growth of live events by making ticketing and promotion more personal and direct. Over half of those who have attended a concert or festival in the last three years bought their ticket over the Internet. Almost 84% of the population own a mobile phone allowing paper tickets to be replaced with barcodes sent directl to the customer’s mobile phone. Also events are being promoted through the use of WAP video footage sent direct to phone. (Source: Mintel)
